Are you happy with your life right now?
I’m not, but I’m making strides to get there.
Content I am, but happy adds another layer of challenge for me.
Like many of you, I’ve listened to everyone’s voices – except my own.
Can we please quiet the voices, and make room for our hearts to speak?
What do you want your life to look like? What are your dreams?
Speak.
Listen.
Think.
Pause.
It feels unfamiliar, foreign, uncomfortable, even selfish, definitely rebellious.
Don’t leave this space.
As you are in this space, there will be thoughts fighting for your attention with the intention of only pulling you down.
These are some of the thoughts I hear:
You’re not capable.
You’re helpless.
You’re wrong.
You can’t.
You have nothing good to say.
You have nothing to offer.
That won’t work. Don’t even try.
That’s selfish! Think about your community!
What a waste of money. Why would you even do that?
What a waste of time! Spend it doing something productive!
No one cares about you.
No one understands you.
You’re alone and always left out.
These are real thoughts. But they’re not me. Why have we given them so much power over our lives? I’m breaking up with these wheels of misfortune and leaning into the life I want – unapologetically. Speak the opposite. Speak Truth into your spirit!
Breaking up with the lies and speaking truth into our lives is a great start. However, it doesn’t end there. As we spend time investing into our dream lives, our callings in God, and our unique identity and personality, it creates a natural roadmap for our lives. But only if we plan it out with intention will we experience the depth and fullness of how our lives are meant to be lived. It wasn’t until I started getting coached by the amazing Isa Rooney (@isa.rooney on Instagram) that I truly understood how life could be so full in every area of life! It takes work, and it’s a lot of fun.
“You’re the best project you can work on.”
Isa Rooney
At first I felt it was selfish to be that project for myself, but honestly.. I believe the fuller and deeper we go in our lives, we become more present and able to love everyone around us better! God will be glorified in a fuller and deeper way through our lives!
Looking back at my old writings and conversations, I notice my focus has been to share my struggles and hardships with a sprinkle of hope – in the “spirit of authenticity.” As much as I want to be real and authentic, I believe it is not beneficial to me, or to you. There is power in our words and what we dwell on. Yes, I will continue sharing my honest struggles with you, but I believe the attention should be placed on Truth, God’s love and power, and constant hope and encouragement!
I give you permission to dream. It is NOT selfish! Visualize what it would look like. Let your heart bubble up with all the excitement and wonder! It doesn’t matter what people think. People will reject you. If you deeply know what you want and what God’s called you to do, keep your eye on the prize.
The heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps.
Proverbs 16:9 (ESV)

Love you all,
